Fall-related hospitalisation is common among elderly. 103,025 people aged 65 and over were hospitalised for a fall-related injury in 2013–2014, three and a half times as many cases as 45–64 year olds.

Certain medical problems such as cognitive impairment and incontinence may contribute to this matter.

If you are concerned about risk of fall in your family member, contact your GP and ask for referral to a geriatrician.
